Bach! Soon!
Sadly we have made the decision to postpone the 2020 New England Bach Festival
due to Covid-19.
Information about the
Tenth New England Bach Festival
is still below
but the programme may change due to future booking availability.
2021....We'll be Bach!
TBA 2021 |
Four days of the best Baroque Music. |
The tenth New England promises a wonderful range of concerts and some fabulous musicians playing lots of Bach and other baroque masters, and a few surprises.
There will be! The organ crawl! There are sights to see and songs to sing!
Austral Harmony is providing a Bach Bouquet with their specially crafted floral renditions. David Drury is channeling Bach from Beyond with his organ improvisations whilst EphenStephen presents the Goldberg Variations.
Baroque infused jazz with Bach and the Edge of Sky, Camerata Antica takes a journey through 17th Century Songbooks, and Shaun Ng (viola da gamba) and Diana Weston (clavier) provides an intimate soiree.
Be sure not to miss Sydney Consort as they bid you all au revoir and the devine magic of Evensong.
Oh...and the peasants are revolting at the beautiful Hanna Arcade!

The New England Bach Festival is a biennial event in Armidale NSW Australia dedicated to the best in baroque music with a focus on that of Johann Sebastian Bach.
Armidale, in the northern tablelands of New South Wales, is a city of 24,000 inhabitants, a university (The University of New England), two cathedrals, the New England Regional Art Museum which houses the renowned Howard Hinton Collection and The Museum of Printing and a lively musical life
It was the third City of the Arts in NSW.The aim of the New England Bach Festival is to bring the best available Australian and overseas baroque performers to Armidale.
Recent festivals have also included improvised concerts that pay tribute to that aspect of Bach’s genius.

Thorough Bass - Bach Family and Friends
Shaun Ng (viola da gamba) and Diana Weston (clavier)
Step into the home of Johann Sebastian Bach and meet some of his family and friends – through music of course. Bach loved spontaneous soirées, often with his own family and friends making the music and we’d like to do the same.
So here is a program Bach may well approve of – with sonatas by Bach himself, his second son Carl Philip Emanuel, family friend and brilliant gambist Carl Friedrich Abel, and (not yet born but let’s pretend) John Christian, the youngest.
